What's the use of black and white when you've got David Gray?

Been trying for quite some time now to see the world anew
What colours here what brush strokes there
They say there’re far from few

So paint a picture eyes wide old and yours the earth shall be
You’ll flip through easy---maybe hard
But in the end you’ll see

A horse is brown the sky roy’l blue, no mixing green from red
And if they bleed look down once more
To ‘void the temptress’ bed

What frames you’ll need you need not ask-for wheels are found face down
To gather grief wrapped up in joy
Just place them ‘tween your frown!

If growth’s your goal then mercy me, the ship’s set sail on grain
Until your lengths beat par-a-dox
A stout man you’ll remain

Such sweet sung marr killed colour blue and turned the world a stray
So what’s the use of black and white
When you’ve got David Gray?
