What if time could be undone?
Unwrung, unhung, and re-sung,
scored on virgin hymn sheets in beat-retreat,
an untucked, unplucked
chord defeat?
And what if words fell loose around lips
buttoned up/zipped shut/harp strings cut?
Perhaps they'd be a bore no more for ears in tune,
and perhaps we'd plead, "sing of noon, our bosom-hewn
fair loon! Sing of noon!"
(If I could undo time,
I'd misspell hell and ring a new bell ––
"bluebell well," we'd sing, "bluebell well!")
