Easter?: Day 26, Lent 2012

I seek the kingdom of God
and wonder, will it be
daybreak and lit on such a morn as this?

Will I touch with my hands what
even my eyes not yet see
and will the sun ever rise
to thrill, fill, and resurrect the land beneath?

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I tell you the truth –
you will not taste death before the kingdom see
upon your backs you'll carry, follow and burdened be.

And you will feel with your limbs
not one part, but the body indeed,
and when now not I, but you ask (fearfully)
I will say, "Christ, go tell the others, it's me."

This poem was written as a reflection on the following verses:

"'But what about you?' he asked. 'Who do you say I am?' Peter answered, 'You are the Christ.' Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.'" - Mark 8:29-30

"And he said to them, 'I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power.'" - Mark 9:1

"If they were all one part, where would the body be?" - 1 Corinthians 12:19
