How do you pray? Do you pray "Dear God" or "Dear Lord Jesus" or maybe "Heavenly Father . . ."?
These days I find that most of my prayers begin, "Oh, Lord . . . *sigh*". Believe it or not, though, this kind of exasperated address has been comforting for me. I think the Lord meets us in our greetings, whether we pray "Our Father", "Holy Spirit", or "Gracious Lord". But then again, that's the beauty of praying to God in three persons –– our prayers are forever relational, greeting and being greeted by God in the spaces where our greatest need meets the personhood of the Trinity (whether it be Father, Spirit, or Son) as it has been revealed to us.
