'A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.' - 1 Corinthians 11:28
Lent has lots to do with self-examination. As we approach Holy Week, we prepare our hearts by asking the Holy Spirit for illumination. Interestingly, confession and repentance is often what is required during this time of preparation, almost as a kind of 'entry exam' into the school of Jesus. It seems, though, that regardless of whether or not you get a good grade, what matters is that you've read the questions and attempted, even in some small way, to consider what kind of answers might be required.
This is a tough process, so as I examine, I pray: 'Lord, have mercy'.
